The Bottle Abatement Group(TBAG) met at the usual spot and headed for the dig site. When I jumped out of the truck, I grabbed the probe and made a couple stabs and the grass by the curb. Doink, Doink, Doink. The ground was frozen. It has been getting colder here and it looks like the frost has taken over. I called the owner, explained the predicament, and told him we would be back in the spring.

We quickly decided to head toward the lake, it is usual a little warmer there. We had nothing lined up, so we hit a few empty lots and then it would be off to knock. Well, the frost was present. Not as heavy as the first spot, but still there. Especially in the bare dirt areas. Anyway, we found nothing and had to start knocking.

I noticed a very determined look in Steve's eyes. He said he wouldn't stop until we had something to dig. Even if it meant his knuckles getting bloody and falling off!

The first two knockers produced a "come back and talk to my wife" and a nobody home. Since Steve was on a mission, I somewhat jokingly told him to go knock at the church. He had found a pit  while doing the neighbor's. We had never knocked assuming it would end up in a "no". On his way to the church he ran into a perisioner who steered him to the rectory. There he too knocked and sure enough the pastor came out to talk. Very nice guy who said he didn't have a problem, but had to run it by the board. Cool!

On my turn, I stopped by what appeared to be a landlord working on a rental. It ended up being a handyman. He gave me the owners' numbers and said it would be a good one because they had many properties!

All these leads are great, but we still needed something to dig. Then next stop was at a place Steve stopped numerous times. He had a pit in the corner, but nobody was ever home. Luckily this time she was home, said yes, and the dig was on.

The sod came off in nice frozen squares. The first couple shovels revealed some crappy pink ash, which means screw tops, milks, and crowntops. I didn't care though, at least we were digging, and this may be the last adventure of the season.

Steve found a cool metal coin purse/cosmetic chinqaderis. Jung Beer from Cinci, V&D beer from New Holland Mich, a bunch of doll parts, and a harder to come by emerald local med were also unearthed.

With the frost in the ground and more bitter cold weather on the way, this may be it for awhile ........
