6-4-05 The golden horseshoes we were sitting on last week were no where in site today. We started before 7am in the same yard as last week's good dig. There was pit in the middle of the yard that had a bunch of stones in the first couple of feet of fill. There was no real way of getting a good feel. It ended up being close to seven feet. We considered closing it a couple times only to be lured on by a juicy shard. Harter's Wild Cherry bitters, Wm J Finke Early blob beer from Burlington, and yellow Sheboygan Gutsch Brew Co blob beer were among the teasers. The few keepers include a Schlitz quart blob beer Gray's hutch. We were waiting for the guy next door to come home from fishing. He has a deep tunnel job under the shed we were going to tackle. He never came and his kid didn't want us digging under the shed. Next stop was another rental. It was in a juicy area, but there wasn't much of a yard and the corner was covered by a one car garage. We did some angle probing and found a couple under there. Half way through the dig the skies opened up with one heck of a quick moving storm. After the winds quit, we set up a tarp to divert the rain and kept on digging. It was shallow and thin on bottles. We did find a new local med, Smiths Pharmacy Deutsche Apotheke. It was intact, but when we ran to the truck when the weather came, one of us must have stepped on it and broke the neck off. Bummer. Also a Hunt's Liniment Sing Sing NY, and the Great Four "C" Remedy. We had another pit under the other corner but it didn't feel good and we decide to leave it for another day. Pit 3 was a huge yard with a monster garage sucking up most of it. A large pit bull was casually patrolling a fenced in area. The only hope of finding something would be in a small section in the back. Luckily there was something there. It was a turn of the century pit. The bottom was loaded with stuff. Broken pottery, slick meds and foods, and a bunch of slick amber and aqua beers. Pretty much the typical stuff for this age pit. The coolest thing was a deep amethyst shot glass. Steve found another pit under the corner of the garage. It was 5pm by now. We were both spent and decide to pack it up. Only 15 more bunk pits to go until we get a good one.......
